We hope that you find utility in our stories beyond the ability to see the same story in two Languages. Our primary objective is
to provide you with entertaining stories that tell about Calabria.  Stories that give you the benefit of our knowledge, eyes and
ears, and perhaps share some friendly advice. Many descendants of Calabrian families that emigrated from her, have only
vague ideas about her based on stories of long ago.   Most of them told of the problems of Calabria. There were many.
Calabrians in the millions left this place for opportunities up in northern Italy, Europe or in the Americas.  Sadly, many of those
who left were not even aware of the great history, important events and people of Calabria that helped to shape the future of
Europe and the world.  Our stories are designed to fill in the blanks. Who were these people? What was their history? What has
happened for those that chose to remain? We hope you enjoy reading our stories as much as we do writing them.  It is an
adventure for us too, and a labor of love.   Thanks for your interest in Calabrian Life.

Why?

Perhaps it is generational memory
That prompts my interest
In understanding
What made them who they were,
and me, who I am.

Whatever the reason, I want to know
What that place is like
That shaped their lives
Gave them their spirits
Me my personality.

So, I take time to ponder
Read about places far
That I never saw
Except in my imagination
And wonder what life would be
Had they not left the comfort of home
To make a better life
For themselves and me.

Forse è la memoria delle generazioni
Che stimola il mio interesse
A capire
Che cosa ha reso loro quello che erano,  
E me quello che sono.

Quale che sia la ragione, io voglio sapere
com'è quel posto
che formò la loro vita
che ha dato loro l'anima  
E a me la mia personalità.

Così ho tempo di pensare
leggere di quei posti lontani
che non ho mai visto
se non nella mia immaginazione
e mi domando come la vita sarebbe stata
se essi non avessero mai lasciato casa
per costruire una vita migliore
